Expedition Dentistry
WEM Expedition Dentist, Burjor Langdana is delivering a WEM Academy Live session on ‘Emergency Dentistry In An Austere Environment’
It’s aimed at Doctors Nurses, Paramedics, Forces Medics, FREC responders and outdoor instructors with advanced wilderness first aid skills.
Did you know, dental Pain accounts for more than 16 % of all expedition medivacs! This totally pictorial session comes as close as possible to our hands-on workshop deals with preventing, diagnosing and managing dental issues in an austere environment.
Dental pain can be very debilitating. Preventing it would be the best solution, but what can you do on an expedition when you are faced with it? You would be totally outside of your comfort zone. Treatment when properly done could give you a simple rapid solution.
This workshop has been running for the last 13 years. We have constantly adapted and fine-tuned it based on questions, experiences, situations that medics have faced. We have excelled at this workshop by consistently keeping it hands-on, simplified, step by step training.
Now we have adapted this to an interactive online session
At the end of this session, you will be able to give Local Anesthesia in the mouth, do a dental filling, place a dental splint, save a tooth that’s been knocked out, do a simple extraction and finally incise and drain a dental abscess.
Expedition Dentist Burjor knows that retaining this knowledge is hard and you may one day require urgent guidance. He has therefore created the Wilderness Expedition Dentistry website for free, unlimited access.
